HURN FOREST CANINE REHABILITATION

Hurn Forest Canine Rehabilitation Limited, previously known as New Forest Veterinary Physiotherapy, is led by Carlie Dixon, a fully insured and registered veterinary physiotherapist and hydrotherapist (IRVAP, ICH).

Carlie provides high-quality, evidence-based treatments tailored to each animal’s individual needs. All sessions use fear-free, positive methods designed to build confidence and promote optimal outcomes through physiotherapy and hydrotherapy.

Hurn Forest Canine Rehabilitation Limited offers physiotherapy and hydrotherapy from our new, independent clinic based in the scenic town of Christchurch. The clinic has been thoughtfully designed to be sustainable, canine-enriched, and force-free, ensuring a calm and supportive environment for every patient.

All treatments are provided following veterinary referral from your veterinary surgeon. Referral forms can be downloaded via the tab at the bottom of this page.

WHAT IS PHYSIOTHERAPY AND HOW CAN IT HELP MY ANIMAL?

Veterinary physiotherapy is an evidence-based healthcare profession focused on the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, disabilities, and disease in animals.

It can support a wide range of conditions, including orthopaedic and neurological disorders, pre- and post-operative rehabilitation, arthritis management, and the conditioning of high-performance, sporting, and working dogs. Dogs of all ages can benefit from physiotherapy, from developing puppies to senior dogs living with age-related conditions.

The aims of veterinary physiotherapy include:

  • Relieving pain and reducing inflammation

  • Improving function, mobility, and posture

  • Restoring joint range of motion

  • Addressing muscle imbalance and enhancing performance

  • Supporting confidence and independence

We believe that building confidence and encouraging independence through positive, fear-free methods are fundamental to a successful physiotherapy programme. Each patient receives an individually tailored treatment plan designed to meet their specific needs and support optimal long-term outcomes.

Veterinary physiotherapy is the use of non-invasive techniques and involves the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, disability and diseases. Physiotherapy is an evidence based health profession and must only be carried out by a fully qualified, insured and regulated therapist. Veterinary Physiotherapists must work under a Veterinary Surgeon’s consent prior to treatment and is governed by the Veterinary Surgeons Act, 1966.
